Wheel Alignment

Wheel Balancing

Fuel consumption and tyre wear are the two main causes of high operating expenses in over-the road transport. Both are typically perceived as hard to control.

Estimated at 35% of trucks/busses-fuel costs is based on tyre’s rolling resistance and lack of alignment. It increases fuel consumption dramatically. Because of improper alignment, uneven tyre wear causes premature tyre replacements and increases in extra tyre cost.

Laser wheel alignment integrates all factors of steering and suspension geometry to provide safe handling and good road quality. Alignment should be used as a preventative option rather than a problem solving solution after the mislignment factors has already affected your tyres. It is recommended to align the trucks/trailers every 6 months/every 40 000 km.

When in motion, an unbalanced wheel can generate huge forces. These forces aren’t even and lead to vibrations. This causes premature wear to the suspension system, it also reduces tyre life and causes enough drag to adversely affect fuel consumption.

Due to bad road surfaces, the grip is less secure and your braking distance may be increased. Wheel balancing should be done upon the purchase of new tyres to ensure that they are completely balanced.

Compare the cost of one tyre to the cost of one wheel balancing, and note that this will save you on tyre costs.
